From largely being an export market, the Indian domestic Organic market today has to grown to 1.02 million ha and 6000 crores worth of produce. Yet, there is miles to go before organic can become popular, from making farms sustainable for their certification to consumers who question the price premium. Manoj Menon, the Director of ICCOA (International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture) talks about the achievements and the challenges – increased farmer awareness, industry and govt initiatives and the big dip this year due to GM contamination and maintenance.
